I would like to begin this post by telling you that I was not asked to write this post, nor was I compensated or given free products to write this post. I’m writing it because I have a new love!
This new love, folks, is our new Knot Genie . . .
If anyone struggles with hair brushing–yours or your kid’s–due to unruly hair, extreme tangles, and chronic rats nests, I highly recommend that you give The Knot Genie a try. Seriously.
Me, I’ve had bone straight hair all of my life (well, until I got pregnant, and ever since it’s had this weird wave to it, what’s up with that?). But Belle? Well, ever since she sprouted hair, it’s been, hmmmm, how should I describe it? Wild, it’s been wild. Like if hair had a personality, her hair would be that person who does whatever they want whenever they want without fear or thoughts of consequences. It’s like that one friend you have who’s always up for an adventure–always going to parties and staying out till all hours of the night. That’s Belle’s hair. See:
Needless to say. Brushing Belle’s hair has always been challenging. Always. These days, the longer it’s getting, the less crazy it has become, but because she has a ton of it and because it is so fine, her hair is always full of knots.
Before a friend turned us on to The Knot Genie, brushing or combing Belle’s hair–wet or dry–always took at least 30 minutes (on a good day), and there was always tears. Hers, mine. Belle would see a comb or brush and run screaming in the other direction. Really. It was a chore, and neither one of us looked forward to it. And a lot of the time, we’d conveniently “forget” to do it. Which of course bread more knots. Are you getting the idea here? Belle’s hair = a nightmare!
BUT!!! The Knot Genie has been a life saver! Ok, well not literally, but you know what I mean. Maybe “tear saver” would be a more accurate term. And “time saver,” too! The Knot Genie website claims it works so well because of its “unique bristle configuration,” but I think it’s magic.
We tried it out the day it arrived, and I swear, our Knot Genie has become like one of Belle’s favorite toys. She carries it around the house and takes it everywhere. Whereas before she’d never want to brush her hair, now she brushes her own hair all the time and asks me to do the same.
I really have nothing but positive things to say about The Knot Genie. I wouldn’t say it’s completely painless brushing with it, because let’s face it, sometimes you just have those massive knots to work through, but that’s not the brush’s fault– it really has made our hair brushing experience so much better. And, even when we do have some work to do, it takes us no more than 5 minutes to get through it all, compared to the 30+ minutes it was taking before. Plus, her hair looks so smooth and shiny when we’re done. (At least for 5 minutes, anyway, before she’s off and playing again.)
Oh, I should note that The Knot Genie is priced a bit higher than your typical comb or brush (I’ve seen it for $9-$19, depending on where you buy it), but in my opinion, it’s worth it.
I really am so grateful to my friend for recommending The Knot Genie. It has made such a difference for us. 🙂
