I’ve Got a Reality Show For You, Discovery Channel: “Alone with Kids and Afraid”

So, if you didn’t know, the Discovery Channel has this new show right now called Naked and Afraid. Basically, they take two strangers — one man and one woman — and strand them in some remote “extreme weather” location for 21 days and film how they go about surviving. Oh, and surprise, they’re naked. Quoting from the website: “In Naked and Afraid, these brazen and bold couples will get acquainted with each other and their new surroundings very quickly, forcing them to question and test everything they may think they know about their acquired survival skills and instincts.”

After watching every episode available marathon-style a few episodes, I came up with a great idea for Discovery’s next extreme reality show. I call it Alone with Kids and Afraid. The premise? You strand one single adult with 2-3 children and see how he or she survives everyday parenting challenges. Nudity won’t be required, but I’m not gonna lie, it’s highly likely.

I have a friend who works at Discovery Channel, so I’m definitely going to pitch this idea to her so she can float it up the awesome idea chain. And, to get them started, I’ve come up with 10 situations I’d like to see thrown at the contestants.Β How would your survival skills stack up in these challenges?

I'm a mamma to four little wild things and can't imagine life any other way. (Well, most days.)

  1. LOL If this goes live, I’d watch it everyday!

  2. Ha! I have watched that show a few times – can’t decide if it is intriguing or freaky. I like yours much better! Another scenario to add – you take all three (or more) kids by yourself to go see a Rated G movie and one of them gets scared and cries inconsolably through the whole thing! (Totally happens to me every time I take my 8 year old to a movie!)

  3. #6b- You’re taking shelter in the basement from a possible tornado with your sleeping kids when all of a sudden you notice the blanket your son is sleeping under is soaking wet because your basement is flooding.

LOVE THIS! I’m pinning now πŸ™‚

  4. I may have gotten sucked into this marathon as well the other night. Honestly, I’m surprised there isn’t a more real reality show about parenting. I think you’re on to something here.

  5. Now THIS is a show I would watch. Brilliant I say. Absolutely brilliant!!

  6. Haha! I would laugh my head off at a show like this. Basically, this also means that all of us moms would make great reality TV stars, right?

  7. YES! We would all make great reality stars!!!

  8. Now that is a show I’d watch! Great idea.

  9. I LOVE THIS! How did I miss this? I would so watch that show! πŸ˜€
